Find Pierce County Busted Mugshots

Tacoma anchors Washington's second-largest county, so the Pierce County Jail roster is long and moves quickly. A search works best with a full name and a known city. Check the roster first to see whether custody is current, then turn to the arresting agency, whether that is the Sheriff or a city police department, when the roster entry raises more questions. A public records request covers material the roster never shows. That jail roster, backed by a public records request to the arresting agency, is the source of Pierce County busted mugshots, and the court file adds each later step in the case.

Who makes the arrest decides where the paperwork lands. Tacoma, Lakewood, Puyallup, and the Sheriff's Office all book people. Each keeps its own incident reports. Current adult custody runs through the Sheriff's Corrections Bureau and LINX. Any criminal case after that belongs to a court. So custody checks, incident reports, and case tracking can involve three different custodians.

The jail has two parts. One is the Main Jail on Tacoma Avenue. The other is the New Jail on Yakima Avenue. It serves as the county's main adult lockup, though it misses plenty of police contact. County criminal-justice data counted 4,590 Sheriff bookings in 2024, just 41.8% of the jail's total bookings. A Sheriff blotter entry, in other words, covers only part of the picture. For jail-system details, use the Corrections Bureau; for the agency mix, see the County criminal-justice data story.

Note: A current roster result identifies local custody status, while the arresting agency and court may hold different parts of the same event.

Pierce County Booking Record Fields

A Pierce County booking record shows the public very little. It is mostly plain text. The roster describes someone currently in custody, nothing more. Its field categories mostly help you route a follow-up request or find the matching court file.

Roster fieldWhat it can show
Inmate name and booking dateIdentity and the recorded local booking date for a current-custody entry.
Charge and warrant typeBooking-stage charge and roster category.
Charging agency and court jurisdictionWhich agency may hold the incident record and where to continue the court search.
Court date, bail, sentence date, or fineScheduled or roster data that should be confirmed in the linked case record.
Release dateA public field category, but not a historical roster archive after the person leaves custody.

Booking photos are another matter. They are not among the public field categories. Pierce County treats most inmate jail records, photographs included, as confidential. That gap between an internal image and a releasable roster field is the key point. A third-party picture online is not a current official record.

Booking
The intake process after a person enters custody, including the creation of jail records.
Arraignment
An early court appearance where a charge and future case steps may be addressed.
Disposition
The court’s later resolution, which may differ from the initial booking charge.

Pierce County Busted Record Requests

Start by naming the record holder. LINX covers current adult county custody. South Sound 911 handles Sheriff incident reports, CAD records, traffic citations, and 911 audio. Jail record requests go through Corrections Public Disclosure. City police keep their own files. Court dockets follow court access rules, not the usual County process.

The County's public-records guidance asks for detail. Give a name, date, incident number, location, or record type. For restricted inmate records or a booking photo, use the Authorization for Release of Inmate Records. The County releases those records only to the inmate, a lawfully entitled person with signed authorization, or under court order. It is not a way to get someone else's image freely.

  1. Check current custody in LINX when the question is whether someone is in the County Jail now.
  2. Use the charging agency or South Sound 911 route for the underlying incident report.
  3. Describe a Corrections request narrowly, and include dates or identifying case details when available.
  4. Use the authorized-release form only when its legal requirements apply, then let the agency determine disclosure.

Confirm the related court record for any charge shown at booking.

Pierce County Booking Fees and Limits

The Sheriff answers a records request within five business days. That response may do several things. It can make records available, give an estimate, ask for clarification, or deny the request with an exemption. The deadline is initial only. It is not a promise of full production. Inspecting records in person is free. Copies and specialized work carry the published charges listed below.

County itemPublished charge or rule
Paper jail record$0.15 per page
Jail-record CD/DVD$1.15 plus postage
Scanned paper record$0.10 per page
Electronic records$0.05 per four files, plus $0.10 per gigabyte when applicable

No fee schedule beats a confidentiality exemption. The same County policy that sets copy costs says booking photos and most inmate records stay confidential. There is also a 30-day clock. Unclaimed, unpaid, or unreviewed material can be closed as abandoned after notice. To arrange an inspection appointment, call the Public Disclosure Unit at (253) 798-4800.

Note: A public-records response may provide a record, a time estimate, a request for clarification, or an exemption-based denial.

Pierce County Busted Photo Privacy

Washington has no general public-photo rule. RCW 70.48.100 requires a public jail register with confinement and discharge basics, while keeping a confined person's records confidential except for allowed uses and recipients. Pierce County follows that line directly. Its current roster shows public text fields, but booking photographs stay confidential. The official path is a roster and a court record, not a County mugshot gallery.

Court relief works through separate channels. A vacated conviction is not automatically sealed or destroyed, and a court change does not force an outside publisher or search index to update. Washington's current court forms and the sentencing court are the right starting points for record-clearing questions. When a source truly removes or changes a result, Google's Refresh Outdated Content process can clear the stale search listing. It cannot remove a live page.

Three secondary publishers appear countywide: BustedNewspaper, RecentlyBooked, and Mugshots.com. None is official. Their listings can be stale, incomplete, or out of step with how a court matter ended. Use their correction paths only after addressing the original record or court case where appropriate, and never treat a publisher's page as a substitute for the County's own confidentiality policy.

Pierce County Vacated Record Limits

Vacated and sealed mean different things under Washington law. Each remedy has its own statute, forms, and court findings. Misdemeanor vacation, felony vacation, sealing, and history correction follow separate paths. Fixing one entry also won't scrub an unrelated jail record, a publisher's page, or a search index. For a personal record question, use current state court forms and ask the sentencing court. Never assume eligibility from a booking entry alone.

When a documented correction is warranted, work from the holder outward. Contact the agency, court, or publisher that keeps the information first. RecentlyBooked posts a no-fee review process for qualifying reports. The other verified publishers each take direct update or removal requests under their own conditions. Once a result changes at the source, a search-engine refresh may follow. No paid intermediary is named or recommended here.

Find Pierce County Busted Mugshots

Start with custody, not an image hunt. For someone likely in local custody, the County's official route is LINX. Open the current jail roster there, or type a name in last-name, first-name order. Released people drop off that list. The charging-agency field then points to who holds the incident record, and a linked case can carry you to the court stage.

Keep the order simple. Check the current roster first. Then chase the arresting agency's report, the court record, and, if legally authorized, a limited records request. A federal or state locator answers a different custody question entirely. For local adult custody and Pierce court searching, this LINX search is the starting point.

Pierce County Jail Roster Limits

A live roster shows who is in custody now. It does not show arrest history. LINX says this plainly. Released people are not on the named list. The County gives no refresh interval, no last-updated clock, and no stated retention period. It sets no 24-hour intake window either. So a missing name is just a scope limit. It cannot rule out an arrest, a citation, a case, or a brief detention.

You can open the roster as a list or search by name. What the public gets is text-oriented. Even when another publisher shows an image, the County's photo policy still governs. For the disclosed field categories and the booking-photo restriction, Pierce County's public-records page is the controlling local source.

A contextual view of the official LINX search shows the roster-selection and name-search interface.

The interface is an official custody lookup. It is not an archive, and it is not a public booking-photo display.

Pierce County Busted Booking Feeds

Pierce County has no verified official booking feed. Nothing same-day, 24-hour, or 72-hour comes from a County source. No weekly or historical-released list either. That gap matters. A current custody record is not a list of people booked last night. The Sheriff blotter runs dated selected reports, safety notices, and occasional "Over the Weekend" summaries, but it stays an incident and news channel rather than a jail intake log.

Need an answer right now? Use the current roster, then confirm through Jail Booking at (253) 798-4590. If the name is gone from the list, follow the arresting agency's report path and the court record. Don't swap an unofficial rolling page for a County feed. Puyallup City Jail is one municipal exception, with its own roster, booking, and release views. Even so, it doesn't create a unified county bookings feed.

For selected official communications, the Pierce County Sheriff blotter is the right source.

Its posts add dated incident context. Yet a post appearing or not appearing proves nothing about booking counts, release history, or case outcomes.

Note: RecentlyBooked’s claimed rolling window is an unofficial publisher feature, not a statement about County roster cadence or completeness.

Pierce County Busted App Access

The Pierce County Sheriff WA app is a mobile route to the current roster. Its July 2024 announcement lists an Inmate Roster, report and tip access, public-records requests, a sex-offender search, and push notifications. Good for a quick local custody check. What the announcement does not document: public booking photos, a historic roster, a booking-feed window, or court disposition details.

Installation runs through the current Apple App Store listing or Google Play listing. Check the store page for availability and current permissions. Menus and features shift without notice.

For its documented functions, the official Sheriff app announcement is the sound source.

The announcement backs a roster and communications route. It does not override the County's confidentiality rule on booking photos.

Pierce County Custody Notifications

VINE does a different job than a roster search. Pierce County calls it a free, anonymous service that notifies you of custody status changes, including release, transfer, or escape. It helps when someone leaves the live roster. It won't certify an arrest history or show a booking photo. For custody checks, the County lists 1-877-846-3492.

When notifications are what you need, rather than a historical record, enroll or verify through Pierce County VINE. Treat both the alerts and the roster as custody information only.

Pierce County Booking to Court

LINX is the bridge from a Pierce County booking to court. Search it by name or cause number. You can pull up proceedings, attorneys, charges, and judgments, within whatever access limits apply. It also posts an in-custody arraignment list. One caution: city cases do not all land in the same courtroom. Read the jurisdiction field instead of guessing.

Someone sentenced into Washington DOC custody has left the county jail system. To find them, use the Washington DOC Incarcerated Search with a name or DOC number. The results show no profile photos. The BOP Inmate Locator covers federal custody. The ICE detainee locator covers immigration custody. Each is a separate tool. None of them stands in for the Pierce County roster.

A roster charge is a snapshot, not the ending. News reports share that problem. Charging decisions change, cases get dismissed, and verdicts come later, so the disposition is where the legal story actually closes.

Pierce County Juvenile Record Limits

Juveniles are a different world. Washington law keeps juvenile identifying information confidential under its own structure, so the County's adult roster should never be used to hunt for a young person's photograph or file. The same caution covers protected health data, victim information, sealed files, and other exempt material. If an entry is missing, read nothing into it. An agency may simply be following the law.

For adults, one more distinction matters. A court order vacating a qualifying conviction does not automatically seal or destroy the record. Everything depends on the record itself and the wording of the order. Keep the official paperwork, work through the sentencing court or current forms, and fix any source error with the agency or publisher involved. That beats assuming a court order wipes out every copy that shows up later.

Pierce County Busted City Routes

City systems march to their own drums. Tacoma police post selected news releases. Current County custody usually shows up through LINX instead. Lakewood has no public name-by-name arrest roster. It spreads its holding among contracted locations. Puyallup runs its own municipal jail, with separate roster, bookings, and releases views covering adult misdemeanors and contracted local custody. Each city page spells out these differences rather than treating every arrest as a County Jail event.

Local reporting and official incident coverage sit in their own lane. The County's Crime News page keeps that coverage separate from the official roster and from what a court eventually decides.

Pierce County Busted Record History

Being visible online and being kept in a file are two separate matters. Washington's retention schedule assigns ordinary adult inmate-custody files, including admission, booking, and transfer material, a six-year retention after incarceration ends, for the standard non-archival series. That rule does not keep a released person's roster entry public for six years, and it does not turn a booking photograph into a public record. Facility registers can follow a separate archival path of their own.

History researchers have another door. The Washington State Archives Puget Sound Regional Branch holds Pierce County jail indexes and registers. That historic route is nothing like a modern Corrections request. It cannot tell you present custody, and it does not open confidential booking images.
